My Chosen Production Role: Editor
A) Written Communication:
A) Written Communication:
I would say that I am quite skilled at writing communication since I give a decent amount of detail in my writing and I can also make a lot of good and valid points with further information in my writing. I do have quite a lot of experience in writing because I have done a lot of tasks that involve writing. I think I need to improve on the speed of my writing because I find writing tasks quite difficult which causes me to be slower than most people at writing.
B) Verbal Communication:
I have had a fair bit of experience with verbal communication. I have done spoken presentations and have created my own little podcast segment as well as some small interviews for some surveys I have done previously. I would say that I am better at shorter spoken tasks like vox pop interviews rather than tasks that involve lots of speaking like the role of a radio host.
Practical Production:
I have a lot of experience with practical productions. I have made a music video, a short film and have created teaser trailers for a game and have done a lot of editing for all sorts of projects I have done. I think I am skilled at practical tasks since I am very familiar with softwares like Photoshop, Indesign, Premier and Illustrator.
Creativity:
I have got a lot of creative experience weather it is creating a movie or band tour poster or writing an original script idea for a Sci-Fi movie. I have a lot of experience in Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator since I have used those softwares most of the time during my time at college. I would say that I have a skill with creativity which involves coming up with an original idea for a set task or to create something based of an already existing product. I get creative inspiration from all sorts of places and things I have seen which I use to create the work I have created.
SWOT Analysis: Editor
Strengths:
I have a decent amount of knowledge in editing softwares like Premier. I also have lots of knowledge and experience in other softwares like Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. I have improved with finishing work and turning up on time.
Weaknesses:
I need more practice with using Premier as there are still quite a lot of features I am not familiar with or struggle to use. I can find it difficult to work under pressure or with a short amount of time.
Opportunities:
I can find time to improve and learn new skills on Premier. There are also university courses for editors which can improve my skills as an editor and to complete different editing tasks. There are also apprenticeship courses for editors where you can learn new methods of editing and you can experience what it is like to be an editor.
Threats:
There could be other people that have more skill in editing that may want to do the same apprenticeships or university courses as I do and have a higher chance of being accepted. Also I might not have the time or technology to complete some of the tasks I would have to do if I was to do an apprenticeship or university course in editing.

Skills Gap Sheet:
For some of these skills I am near to meeting the required level but for some I'm not that close like for knowledge on using Premier. I can improve on this and meet the required level of knowledge if go and practice some of the features on Premier that I am not familiar with so I know how to use them in the future and I can also improve on the speed of my editing while I am doing that since I can be quite slow at editing at times. To improve on these problems I will practice some new skills and the speed of my editing on premier so I am more comfortable with editing on premier and so that I can meet my deadlines much easier and quicker. Although there isn't much improvement needed for having a creative mind I think I can further improve this skill by sharing and speaking up about my ideas more.
